Ableton Massive Filter v.1.02 Max for Live Device (.amxd file)

Control First: Three Parameters, Twelve Behaviors

Cutoff, Resonance, Function.
A minimal interface, but each parameter acts directly on the internal behavior of the signal.

Cutoff defines where energy concentrates across the spectrum.
Resonance controls how strongly the system feeds back into itself, moving from subtle emphasis to near self generating motion.
Function changes role depending on the selected model, shifting frequency relationships, injecting drive, or increasing feedback intensity.

There is no abstraction layer. Each movement produces an immediate structural change in the sound.

A Filter That Generates Character

Conventional filters such as Ableton Live Auto Filter prioritize transparency and control. They are designed to shape without leaving a trace.

This system follows a different logic.

Inspired by the behavior of Native Instruments Massive, the filter is treated as an active component. When driven, it does not simply emphasize frequencies. It reorganizes them. Harmonics emerge from feedback, transients shift through phase interaction, and the signal develops motion that was not originally present.

The sound does not pass through unchanged. It reacts.

Model as Behavior

Twelve filter models are available. Each represents a distinct internal structure rather than a variation in settings.

  • LP2, HP2, BP
Responsive and controlled. Suitable for shaping while preserving motion.
  • LP4, HP4
Steeper response with a stronger focus on resonance. HP4 removes low frequencies with precision while keeping the upper spectrum active.
  • Notch, Double Notch
Phase interaction becomes audible. Double Notch introduces a movable spectral gap that can be tuned for rhythmic or tonal modulation.
  • Allpass
No amplitude change, only phase rotation. Useful for altering spatial perception and transient alignment.
  • Scream
A feedback driven mode that produces aggressive harmonic content. Known for its vocal, almost shouting character.
  • Daft
A saturated lowpass response. Thick, compressed, and forward in presence.
  • Comb
Feedback delay behavior integrated into the filter. Metallic, resonant, and highly sensitive to input timing.
  • Acid
A nonlinear filter model derived from the filter section of the Roland TB-303, reconstructed as an independent system.
Its response is shaped by feedback and asymmetric saturation, producing a fluid and continuously shifting tone. Resonance interacts with the input signal, creating motion that remains controlled while retaining instability.

These models do not behave as presets. Each one changes how the signal evolves over time.

Nonlinearity Inside the System

Nonlinear response is embedded within the filter stages rather than applied at the output. Each stage contributes to harmonic generation, resulting in a distributed transformation across the signal.

The effect is cumulative. Subtle material gains texture. Dense material becomes more articulated. Low frequencies remain controlled while higher frequencies gain complexity.

Even at extreme resonance settings, the system remains stable. It approaches the edge without collapsing, allowing expressive use in real production contexts.

Beyond Transparent Processing

There are situations where clean filtering is not sufficient. When a sound requires identity rather than correction.

This device operates in that domain. It introduces interaction, bias, and controlled instability, complementing standard tools instead of replacing them.

Continuity

The system is maintained as an evolving structure. Updates are available at no additional cost through the original Sellfy account, ensuring access to the latest version without interruption.
