Telequencer is a sequencer for Ableton Live, crafted for those who prefer to explore rather than control. Inspired by the tactile unpredictability of analog devices like the Make Noise René, it brings generative composition into a digital environment where precision meets surprise.

This is not about automation. This is about emergence.

Temporal Structure as Material

Each step in Telequencer holds more than a pitch. It carries a duration, a place in time, and the potential to reshape the groove itself. Unlike conventional sequencers that focus on pitch and velocity, Telequencer foregrounds duration as a compositional parameter, allowing you to construct phrasing and rhythmic structure with a finer temporal resolution. You can determine how long notes sustain, how many steps define the sequence, and when it resets. At the core of its timing system are three tempo subdivisions, each capable of reframing the same pattern into a distinctly different rhythmic character.

Generated Coherence, Mutable Feel

From version 5.0, a generate function has been introduced. With a single press of the generate button, Telequencer produces musically coherent sequences that follow a defined scale and root pitch. This shifts the role of the sequencer from a purely manual programming tool to a hybrid system where algorithmic suggestion and user control intersect. A single parameter can significantly alter the feel of a sequence. The shuffle control enables anything from subtle swing to unstable, fragmented timing, evoking rhythmic sensibilities associated with UK Garage or deep House while maintaining structural coherence.

Motion Within Structure

Included are sixteen Snake patterns, each one a unique traversal through the sequence. A Rotate control offsets the entry point, shifting the sequence in subtle but meaningful ways. You can loop, rotate, evolve. The result is not repetition. It is variation through form.

A Living Instrument

Telequencer is not finished. It is updated frequently and always free for existing users. Each new version expands its vocabulary, deepening the musical conversation it enables.

You do not program this instrument. You collaborate with it.
